COLLACOTT RIDING SCHOOL
At Collacott Stables we take pride
in our high standards of teaching, and the quality of our horses.
This reflects in the level of our return bookings.
Our B.H.S. qualified staff cater for the needs of the beginner to the experienced
rider on horses that have been selected for their
all-round ability and temperament. The all-weather menage provides a safe area
in which to ride and improve your skills, both in flat work and jumping. We also
have a cross country schooling course that has been designed to provide a variety
of obstacles to help develop your technique. Add all this to hacks through Devon's
beautiful country lanes, and you have all the ingredients for the perfect riding
holiday.
Should you wish to bring your own horse with you, we are able to offer
excellent stabling and also use of our extensive facilities all designed to suit
your individual needs.
Horses and Ponies
At Collacott riding is
geared to the needs of the individual. It is a British Horse
Society approved centre, where you can learn to ride or for
the more proficient, to polish up and extend your skills, in
cross country, jumping or dressage.
For the beginner or casual rider we have the arena, which measures 40m
x 20m, whereyou can have an individual or group lesson. The
horses are all well behaved and well schooled and range in height from William
at 11.2hh, to Hamlet and Ben at 16hh plus.
Our philosophy is that riding should above all, be fun, and informative.
We offer excellent riding facilities, teaching and for safety, the latest British
Standard riding hats.
Details of Riding Costs are available here.
All Weather Arena
Our all weather arena
- measuring 40 by 20 metres - is floodlit, and over-looked
by both outdoor viewing areas and an indoor viewing gallery.
Loan A Pony Our 'Loan a Pony'
scheme is very popular with children and parents alike. Loan
a pony gives the opportunity for the children or adults to
learn how to care for a horse. The opportunity to ride for
2 hours/day, and have structured stable management.
A day on the yard, including 2 riding sessions and stable management tuition
costs £40.00 per day, or £175.00 for 5 days.
Weekend or Mid-Week Riding Breaks
We are pleased to be able to offer
2-3 day breaks for adults during the off-peak seasons. These
breaks offer riding for differing abilities and needs, on quality
horses and ponies.
Included in the two night break is a cottage with electricity and bed-linen
(heating is extra). Also included are four hours riding, which is normally a
lesson in the arena and a hack out, but this can be adapted for individual requirements.
Only adults able to control a horse in walk, trot and canter will be able to
hack out.

Fun For All The Family
Above all riding should
be fun, and that is our aim at Collacott. Our standards are
high, but our costs are reasonable.
We cater for all ages and all abilities,
from the tinies and their Tots Trots - a 15 min lead rein ride
- to their Mums, Dads, Sisters, Brothers, Friends and even
Granny and Grandpa!
